Matthew is preparing for a life-saving kidney transplant on March 19 …a time filled with hope, fear, and gratitude all at once.
The miracle making this possible is Tim, Darcy’s nephew, who has selflessly stepped forward to donate one of his kidneys so Matthew can live.
Tim is only 23 years old. He’s an actor and scriptwriter, currently working at a Greek restaurant while chasing his creative dreams. When Tim offered to become a living donor, he didn’t hesitate even though it will require major surgery, weeks of recovery, and time away from work.
While the transplant itself is covered by insurance, Tim’s insurance will not cover everything. He will face out-of-pocket medical expenses, lost wages while he recovers, and the everyday costs of rent, food, transportation to and from medical appointments, and basic living expenses, all while he heals from a serious operation.
No one should have to choose between saving a life and being able to pay their rent.
We are raising $10,000 to support Tim during his recovery so he can focus on healing without the added stress of financial strain. Tim will be out of work for 8 weeks during which he will not be earning any income and will not qualify for short term disability. Every dollar raised will go directly toward:
- Medical and recovery-related costs
- Rent and utilities
- Food and basic necessities
- Transportation to and from hospital and follow-up appointments
- Lost income while he is unable to work
Darcy has been one of my dearest friends since college, her family become my family and watching them go through this has been incredibly emotional, but also inspiring. The love, courage, and generosity Tim has shown is something truly extraordinary.
If you are able to give, no amount is too small. If you can’t donate, please consider sharing this page.
Together, we can help lift the financial burden off Tim’s shoulders so he can continue doing the most important work of all… giving Matthew the chance at a healthy, full life.
Thank you for your kindness, support, and love. We will update everyone with Matthew and Tim’s progress after the transplant surgeries on March 19.
