Our beloved friend Maryona and her young family are now facing what most of us can only imagine in our worst nightmares. We are a group of friends who have known and loved this family for years, and we are sharing this because they are real people, in a real and urgent crisis, who need our help now more than ever.

At just 34 years old, and with three beautiful children five and under—her youngest not even a year old—Maryona has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of liver cancer with a very poor prognosis. The diagnosis came only a short time ago, and the pace of her illness has been devastatingly fast. She remains critically ill in hospital.

Despite everything, Maryona’s light continues to shine. Her warmth, humour, and kindness still touch everyone around her. But behind the scenes, this family—who give so much to their community—is now in urgent need of our help.

If you live in Bramhall, you may already know Maryona’s radiant smile from the preschool gates or community events. She has tirelessly fundraised for the local preschool, organised family activities, and brought joy wherever she went. Her husband Atef has coached and inspired countless people through his work in fitness and personal development.

Now, they need us.

With no family in the UK to support them, Atef is trying to care for three very young children while staying by Maryona’s side. He’s had to reduce his self-employed work significantly, and the financial pressures on the family are immense.

We are raising funds to support Maryona, Atef, and their children in any and every way they need during this unimaginably difficult time—whether that’s covering childcare, daily living costs, or simply allowing Atef to be fully present with his wife and children without the added burden of financial stress.

We know they would never ask for help themselves—they are some of the kindest, most giving people you could ever hope to meet. But that’s why we are asking for them.
