Most people who know Maria del Mar del Castillo know that she is one exceptionally talented, hard-working, proud, generous, mother of two and all around great human being.

As many of you already know, Maria was diagnosed with cancer earlier in the year. Initially, Maria’s outlook was good. Then Covid happened and the hospitals were overwhelmed. We all heard that surgeries were postponed and knew that the effects of those postponements would hit some harder than others.

Well for Maria, that postponement was devastating and led to her cancer progressing to the point where she now needs a lot more treatment than was initially anticipated. Between chemo, radiation, and surgery, Maria’s life has taken a dramatic turn. She has gone from being a working actor to being a person working full-time on fighting cancer.

We know Maria is a fighter, and for those of us who know her as colleagues, fans, and friends, we believe in her tenacity and strength to fight. But these fights are always better with a platoon of supporters behind you.

So while Maria has entertained us and helped us through her work organizing events and ceremonies, she has never asked for anything in return. What say we step up and lend a hand, or better yet, hand over some dough, to support her in what is turning out to be a protracted battle. The last thing anyone should be thinking about when they’re fighting this fight is “how am I going to make ends meet”. So let’s help banish that thought with this fundraiser!
