Yesterday I received a phone call from my parents that was both terrifying and surreal.
They were on their way back from east TN and called to let me know they had just been informed their home in Alexandria, TN was on fire. A neighbor had called it in and sent them a couple pictures. I didn’t want to believe it until I saw the pictures.
It was real, it was burning to the ground. Along with losing their home they lost one of their dogs. We think he unfortunately couldn’t make it off the porch in time or was trapped underneath. Either way, the whole incident was heartbreaking, still is and will be moving forward.
One of their dogs made it to safety and all horses and donkeys are safe. One box of childhood pictures was saved along with a few other important memorabilia.
Aside from that their entire house is gone sans a couple of rooms which are pretty much ruined. They’ve lost almost everything as far as material possessions are concerned. They’re alive and well , which is the most important fact, however they’re trying to sort through this nightmare and will be for a while.
They did not want me to start this gofundme as they will be talking to insurance, but I am anyway to take some stress and financial burden off of their backs. If you know my parents you know how loving and giving they are. They have and would do just about anything to help their loved ones and anyone in need. Now is the time for us to come together and help them.
Whatever you can pitch in toward “cushioning” their time during this painful and challenging process of moving forward is appreciated. If you cannot donate, share.
Thank you all so much for taking the time to read this.
