Maisy Earle is a 24-year-old woman who has been facing chronic health challenges since she was a teenager.

Diagnosed with POTS, endometriosis, heart, bowel and kidney conditions, she has spent much of her young life in and out of hospitals, with doctors often referring to her as a "medical anomaly."

Endometriosis, in particular, has caused her immense suffering. At just 17, Maisy underwent her first surgery, and since has had to endure 7 more due to the rapid regrowth of the disease, which had fused her internal organs together and threatened her life.

Since 2017, Maisy has faced a constant financial strain due to her chronic conditions. Her parents have spent over $60,000 out of pocket on her surgeries alone, not to mention the cost of seeing multiple specialists each week— including psychologists, psychiatrists, pain specialists, gastroenterologists, acupuncturists, endocrinologists, naturopaths, and pelvic physiotherapists. These appointments come with hundreds of dollars in out-of-pocket expenses.

Maisy has lost two jobs due to her poor health and can only manage to work two days a week. The trauma of her condition has taken such a toll on her mental health that she is currently in psychiatric hospital, needing time to fully recover before she can find new work. Even with her disability support pension and NDIS applications in progress, the lengthy wait for approval has left Maisy and her family with no financial relief in sight.

My heart breaks for my friend and her family, who have put themselves in debt trying to give her the care she deserves.
