UPDATE: For the puropse of clarity and transparancy GoFundMe has requested the following information to be posted before they will allow withdrawal of campaign funds.
Q1. Who are you?
A1. My name is Kate Duncanson. I have become very close friends with Madisyn Green over the past 3 years since starting our nursing career together.
Q2. Where you are from.
A2. I grew up in a small community on Manitoulin Island and have relocated to Geraldton, Ontario for employment. Living here in Geraldton has allowed opportunity to create a variety of new relationships with differing members of this strong and committed rural northern community of Geraldton which we are proud to call home.
Q3. Your relationship to the parties you're raising funds for.
A3. Madisyn and I are friends and coworkers. Our friendship become strong, loyal and true quite quickly. We enjoy each other’s company and spend a great deal of time together socializing, engaging in many adventures and have made many memories already; I am certain there will be years of friendship in our future. We rely on each other for support and encouragement in many facets of our life.
Q4. How the funds will be used (be as specific as possible).
A4. To answer this question without subjecting Madisyn to added vulnerability by exposing her personal experience, I have asked her permission to divulge information at her discretion. Madisyn's plan to use the funds so generously given by all the supportive contributors is:
i) For travel expenses and accommodations for which Madisyn's partner, Daniel, and her mother, Sheila, have already incurred by spending numerous weeks away from home and work to be at Madisyn's side throughout her hospitalization.
ii) To finance ongoing and upcoming follow-up appointments with her specialized group of care providers in Toronto, Ontario.
iii) To supplement cost of medical supplies, functionability equipment and assistive devices not covered by Ontario’s Assistive Devices Program (ADP).
iv) For any other medically or physically necessary expenses which may arise throughout Madisyn’s journey to optimized recovery.
Q5. If you intend to withdraw the money how you plan to send the funds to the parties you’re raising money for or use the money on their behalf.
A5. Despite many frustrating efforts, Madisyn and I have been unable to successfully secure her as the beneficiary to allow her access to withdrawal campaign funds independently through the GoFundMe website. As a result, I will be withdrawing the lump sum of money on her behalf. Once the money is deposited to my personal banking account I will be making a trip, with Madisyn, to my supported branch in Thunder Bay to have the funds cashed from my account appropriately for deposit to Madisyn’s personal account.
Madisyn Green is currently facing a long road of healing and hospitalization to recover from an overwhelming injury. Madisyn is the eldest daughter of Sheila and Kevin Green. She is a genuinely kind and compassionate nurse who has begun her career and is creating a life, with her boyfriend Dan Blundon, in Geraldton, Ontario.
Fortunately, the physical aspect of Madisyn’s care is being overseen by a specialized medical team and she is receiving constant and therapeutic emotional support from Dan and her family. But, this means much time away from home and many medical trips throughout her recovery. This is where YOU come in!
Madisyn and her family need your help to lessen the impact of unplanned expenses. In an effort to create a united offering of financial support, I have created this account. The outpouring of love and generosity already received, through various sources, shows just how many lives Madisyn has touched and how important she is to us. Close friends have rallied and are looking after the basics back home while Madisyn focuses on recovery and Dan makes sure she laughs at least once a day.
