On October 31st, Lori Tanner passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. She was visiting the UK to support her daughter Regan as she prepared to give birth to her first child, Lori’s first grandbaby. Phoenix Michael Hickey (a healthy, perfect baby boy) was born just a few days after Lori’s passing.

Lori and her husband Mark had four amazing children: Ryan, Steven, Matthew, and Regan. But they weren’t the only kids who grew up calling her Mom. Ask any friend of the Tanners and they’d tell you they were her kid too. When you needed her, she was there. It really was that simple.

Lori was an exemplary mother. Strong-willed and straightforward. The kind of mom you knew better than to get in trouble with but knew that when you messed up, she’d love you unconditionally. Her love was fierce and practical. She kept everyone safe and didn’t do anything half-way. She was happiest when her home was full, when she was needed, when she could make someone’s day easier or a tough moment more bearable. She shaped our community and an entire generation.
