Our beautiful colleague and dear friend Lisa is preparing to face one of the most difficult challenges of her life. She has been diagnosed with a fast-growing pineal brain tumour and is now facing major brain surgery in the coming weeks.

Nine months ago, Lisa began experiencing symptoms that led to the discovery of a tumour deep within her brain. Since then, she has already undergone surgery to biopsy the lesion and required the insertion of a shunt to manage hydrocephalus. Unfortunately, the biopsy did not provide a large enough sample for doctors to determine the exact nature of the tumour, and her medical team has been carefully monitoring its growth with regular scans.

Throughout this time, Lisa has faced the uncertainty of this diagnosis with incredible strength and quiet courage, continuing to support and care for those around her. She had hoped that further surgery might not be necessary, but recent scans have shown that the tumour is continuing to grow. After her latest appointment with her neurosurgeon, the decision has been made that Lisa will need to undergo significant brain surgery within the next four weeks in an effort to remove the tumour.

Many of you know Lisa as a compassionate and highly skilled registered nurse who has dedicated years of her life to caring for others. Outside of work, Lisa is a devoted and proud mother to her three wonderful children, Dylan, Noah, and Lily who mean absolutely everything to her.

Following her surgery, the uncertainty of the procedure and recovery means Lisa will need to take significant time away from work to focus fully on healing and beginning rehabilitation. During this period, we hope to ease some of the financial pressure so she can devote her energy to recovering and spending meaningful time with her family.
