Lauren Gross is truly one of a kind. If you know Lauren, you know she's the person who consistently goes above and beyond for everyone in her life, always giving without expecting anything in return. It’s hard to find a picture of her not in uniform, because her life is dedicated to caring for others – whether it's her beloved family or her patients.

For over a decade, Lauren has served as an incredible paramedic, and she's simply the best I know. She's the one who came to the hospital to successfully start an IV for my mother when no one else could. She's taken time off work, unpaid, to speak to my nursing students and help them hone their assessment skills, simply because she genuinely loves to see others succeed. When you're struggling, Lauren's immediate response is always, "What can I do to help?"

Lauren is also incredibly private and would never ask for help herself – in fact, she usually refuses it unless you leave her no other option. This is why I'm setting up this GoFundMe, because our dear Lauren is now facing immense challenges, and it's our turn to be there for her.

Recently, Lauren underwent emergency surgery and, due to complications, had to be re-admitted to the hospital. She used all of her paid leave for her recovery. Upon returning to work, she received devastating news: her beloved father, who lives across the country, has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

Without hesitation, Lauren immediately flew out to be with him. On his 80th birthday, she spent the entire day accompanying him to specialists and arranging his treatment. Anyone who knows Lauren knows her family is everything to her – she loves them more than life itself. This situation has been truly heartbreaking for her.

This GoFundMe is a chance for all of us who love and appreciate Lauren to give back to the person who is always there for everyone else. The funds raised will directly help with her traveling expenses between California and Florida, allowing her to be by her father's side as he undergoes chemotherapy and recovers from surgery.
