Supporting Miss Stang After Annunciation Tragedy

On August 27, 2025, my sister’s world changed forever. My sister, Kristin, a beloved creative arts teacher, was inside Annunciation Catholic Church when the unthinkable happened, a school shooting during Mass. She was at the piano, playing for her students, when chaos and terror broke out.

In her own words, she has asked that we “hold her students, colleagues, and families in our hearts,” reminding us that the children lost are not statistics, but bright, joyful souls who deserved a lifetime of love and safety. She also wants to thank law enforcement for their incredible response.

That’s who Kristin is: even in her own pain, she centers her kids. All she could think to do was hug her kids and sing sanctuary songs to try and calm them while keeping them quiet. With decades of experience teaching, she has spent her life pouring creativity, music, theater and joy into the lives of countless students.

But this experience has left scars. She was excited to start her second year at this school. Instead, she is now navigating trauma, the weight of grief in her community, and the difficult path of recovery.

This fund will help ensure that she can focus on healing without added financial stress. Donations will support:

-Trauma counseling and therapy

-Time away from work, if needed.

-Creating a safe, welcoming classroom space for her students.

My sister has given her heart to her students and community for decades. Now, it’s our turn to care for her.
