On Dec 9th at approximately 8am, my daughter was involved in a vehicle hit and run. She got out of her car on the Kemah bridge because she had a flat tire. The next thing she remembers is coming to about 40 feet from her car, a 2018 Red Jeep Renegade. Her phone and shoe were in the middle of the bridge. The car that hit her never stopped to render aid. She got up and remembers dragging her right leg to get her phone to call for help. As people were passing her and she was screaming, crying, and waving passing cars down for help, no one stopped to help her. Someone, however, did contact 911, letting them know there was a bleeding woman on the Kemah bridge. EMS showed up and debated life-flighting her to UTMB but chose to just rush her by EMS instead of waiting. She has a broken left foot, a fractured left knee, a broken left ankle, a broken right pelvic bone, 5 staples in her head, 3 spots fractured on her spine, and a contusion on her brain. She will lose the skin between her knee and ankle, needing skin grafts as healing happens. She is stable, but we have a long way to go. She has had 8 surgery's. She will be in the hospital through Christmas and possibly even New Year's. She has four beautiful girls and several family members praying for her. We ask that if you know anything about her accident, please reach out to Detective McGee with the Seabrook Police Department. Please continue to pray for Kristie and her girls and our family.
This will affect Kristie’s ability to work and run her household so she will be staying with me until she is able to do things on her own again. Due to the long recovery, we are asking anyone who can help with the renovations needed to make home wheel chair accessible for Kristie to come home and continue to heal. A ramp was donated and installed so that she while be able to get access to the home in her wheelchair. However we still need to make the restrooms and bedroom wheel chair accessible for her to be able to rest, shower and use the restroom comfortably.
Thank you so much for anything you can give, even if it is just a prayer; it is so very appreciated.
