Supporting Krishna in His Fight

Dear Friends,

I come to you with a humble request to help save my 17-year-old cousin brother, Krishna, who has recently been diagnosed with Wegener's granulomatosis (Granulomatosis with polyangiitis), a rare and severe autoimmune condition. On average, it affects between 2 and 38 people out of every 1 million. There is no known cure to it till date and without proper maintainance treatment, it can be fatal. This disease attacks the blood vessels, affecting vital organs such as the lungs, kidneys, ears, nose, and throat. The treatment involves potent medications like cyclophosphamide, which come with serious side effects, including an increased risk of cancer, infertility, low white blood cell count, and infections. The emotional and financial burden on his family, which was already struggling, is immense.

Just a month ago, Krishna's life was turned upside down. It broke our hearts to see him, scared and confused, lying in a hospital bed, asking doctors about his condition. He was on the brink of a new chapter in his life, having completed high school with flying colors and receiving an offer to his dream college to study Pharmacy. But his dreams have been put on hold due to his deteriorating health and the financial strain this illness has placed on him.

Life has never been easy for Krishna. At just 6 months old, he suffered from malnutrition, and his mother fought to nurse him back to health while his father was also hospitalized. A few years later, Krishna was diagnosed with rickets, and due to inadequate treatment, he had to undergo four major surgeries over three years, with another still pending. Despite all these hardships, Krishna has always been a cheerful, hardworking boy who faces every challenge with a smile and unwavering determination.

I cannot bear the thought of losing him, and I have faith that God, and the kindness of people like you, will help us through this.
