We are friends of the unstoppable Kora Rempel/Klassen. How we met her or how long we’ve known her varies. For everyone who know Kora, knows her energy, thoughtfulness and supportive nature. She is an absolute force and a gem of a human being.

Kora and her family need our support. As is typical of their family, when facing adversity, they hold strong together and continue move through the world with positivity and love.

Over the course of 10+ years, the Klassen family has battled through cancer(s), loss of family members and surgeries. While cancer treatments and radiation are powerful and helpful components of treatment, they can also do lasting damage to one’s body.

Kora slipped on ice a few years ago. She fractured the part of her spine that had been treated with intense targeted radiation years earlier. She required surgery to insert rods along her spine.

After getting the surgery, and the long recovery, the rods broke a year later.

Unbelievably, this has happened to her twice. The second surgery resulted in three carbon fibre rods around her spine, which were supposed to stabilize her for a lifetime. Almost two years later, the rods have broken again.

She now awaits a third surgery. This surgery will be more complex and will require a longer stay at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto.

We started this go-fund-me because this family deserves to receive a gift of support. They have persevered through more things than a family should have to face. We often ask, “how is this happening to you, again?”. Kora and Wes have never asked for anything and they still aren’t, we are asking for them.

Money raised will be used for essentials; including but not limited to: groceries/food services

parking/travel expenses (back and forth to Sunnybrook)

missed wages

recovery time costs

and any medical expenses that may not be covered.
