I’m creating this fundraiser for my dear friend Katy — a loving mom, a fighter, and someone who has been quietly carrying far more than anyone should have to.

Over the past few weeks, Katy has been in and out of the hospital with severe gallbladder complications. What began as unbearable pain turned into a medical emergency, including an ERCP procedure, bile duct stones, a stent placement, and a very close call with sepsis. Despite all of this, she returned to work far too soon because she simply couldn’t afford not to. She is now scheduled for gallbladder surgery and facing time off work she doesn’t have the safety net for.

On top of the medical crisis, Katy is navigating recovery, grief, and the emotional weight of trying to be strong for everyone — especially her daughter, whose birthday is coming up, followed closely by Christmas. Like so many parents, she wants nothing more than to give her child a joyful, stable holiday season, but right now finances are standing in the way.

This GoFundMe is meant to help cover:

• Lost wages during surgery and recovery

• Medical and transportation expenses

• Basic living costs while she heals

• Her daughter’s birthday and Christmas gifts

Katy did not ask for this. She is someone who gives, shows up, and loves deeply — even when she’s struggling herself. Right now, she needs support so she can focus on healing, staying well, and being present for her daughter without the constant fear of financial collapse.
