For the Family Trenton Loved Most: Supporting Katy, Liam & El
On June 3, 2026, our family experienced the unthinkable. My baby brother, Trenton Elliott Ashley, suddenly passed away at just 37 years old.
Trenton was born on October 14, 1988, and from the moment he came into this world, he carried something rare and beautiful. To know Trenton was to love him. He was a gentle giant — 6’9” with a heart even bigger than the state of Kentucky. He was funny, kind, loyal, tender, generous, and one of the very best people this world has ever known.
But before anything else, Trenton was an amazing husband and father. He loved his wife, Katy, with his whole heart. Trenton and Katy were approaching their 12th wedding anniversary, and the life they built together was full of faith, love, laughter, sacrifice, and devotion. Katy was not just his wife — she was his partner, his best friend, and one of the greatest lights God used to help lead Trenton to Christ.
Together, Trenton and Katy have two precious boys: Liam, who is 8, and Eli, who is 4. Those boys adored their dad. Trenton was their hero, their fun, their strength, and their world. He loved being their dad. He loved Katy and his boys more than anything on this earth, and every decision he made was rooted in his desire to provide for them, protect them, and lead them well.
In the last year, Katy stepped away from her job in the public school system to follow what she and Trenton believed the Lord was calling their family to do — for Katy to be more present with Liam and Eli, to homeschool them, and to teach within their homeschool co-op community. This beautiful step of obedience came with a significant pay cut for the family, but Trenton supported Katy in it. He believed in it. He was proud of her. And the family saw the fruit of their obedience.
Now, in the wake of losing Trenton, we do not want Katy to be forced to lose the life and rhythm they had prayerfully built for their boys, too. Liam and Eli have already lost their daddy. Our prayer is that, through the generosity of family, friends, and the body of Christ, they will not also have to lose the stability, comfort, and daily presence of their mom in this tender season of grief.
One of the deepest desires of our hearts is to help offset the loss of Trenton’s salary so Katy can continue doing what she and Trenton believed God had called their family to do. This GoFundMe is not just about meeting immediate needs. It is about helping carry Katy, Liam, and Eli in the months and years ahead. It is about helping replace a portion of the provision Trenton so faithfully carried, so Katy has room to grieve, mother, homeschool, work at the co-op, and continue raising their boys in the faith-filled home she and Trenton built together.
As Trenton’s older sister, I cannot put into words the ache of losing my baby brother. Our family is devastated. His friends are devastated. Everyone who loved him is grieving deeply because the world truly lost one of the good ones.
But even in the middle of this tragedy, we believe God is still good. We believe Trenton is in glory with his Heavenly Father and with Jesus. We believe he is healed, whole, free, and fully alive in the presence of the Lord. And now, our heart is to make sure Katy, Liam, and Eli are cared for here.
Scripture says, “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” — Galatians 6:2
This is one of those sacred moments where the body of Christ gets to come together and carry what no one family should have to carry alone. We are asking for people to give generously, prayerfully, and as the Lord leads so that Katy does not have to carry a crushing financial burden on top of the unimaginable grief of losing her husband.
The purpose of this GoFundMe is to help provide for Katy, Liam, and Eli in the days, months, and years ahead — to help with funeral expenses, household needs, loss of income, schooling, daily living expenses, and to give Katy breathing room as she learns how to walk forward with her boys.
Trenton would have done anything for anyone. He was the kind of man who showed up, helped, loved deeply, and gave from the heart. Now we have the opportunity to show up for the family he loved more than anything.
Every gift matters. Every prayer matters. Every share matters.
Please pray for Katy. Pray for Liam and Eli. Pray for our family. Pray that the peace of God would cover them in ways that only He can. And please consider giving to help surround this sweet family with the love, support, and provision they need in this devastating season.
Lord, take care of Trenton’s family. Let them be held, provided for, protected, and covered. And even here, in the deepest valley, may Your glory be made known.
Thank you for loving Trenton, for loving Katy, Liam, and Eli, and for helping us carry this burden together.
