Please consider supporting our beloved Katrina/ Chef Kat who is coping with a traumatic life event: her son Brian, just weeks away from high school graduation, was shot twice last week, standing in the front of his school. It was a senseless act by drive-by actors trying to steal his cell phone and sneakers.

Thankfully, Brian is safely at home, recovering from his wounds. But Brian, Katrina and her husband have a road to recovery ahead, physically and mentally.

Let me tell you about Brian. Not only is he handsome and kind like his momma, but Brian is all brains: a superstar student. On June 11, he graduates at the top of his class, as salutatorian, from KIPP College Preparatory in DC. He plans to attend Johnson & Wales University in Charlotte this fall. The school pushed back graduation by a week to June 11th; and if he is up to it, he plans to walk with his graduating class.

I told Katrina that she has put so much good karma out into the world, that-- at this moment when she needs it the most-- it's all going to come rushing back and embrace her like a big, warm hug.
