Karin was first diagnosed with colon cancer in November 2019 at the age of 39. She underwent her first surgery (to resect part of her colon) and then 6 months of chemotherapy followed. In September of 2020, she got the much-wished for, “All Clear!” from her CT scans… but then it came back. In March of 2021 she had a full hysterectomy and more chemotherapy, as the colon cancer had metastasized to an ovary. Karin has since had to have another abdominal surgery (to remove a lesion in the summer of 2023) and another six rounds of chemo. Through it all, she has remained a pillar of strength for her family and friends, and has led the way in her optimism and honest take on this lengthy battle.
She is now throwing a Hail Mary pass by way of the HIPEC procedure at the Cleveland Clinic, which is a major surgery that comes with a probable 2-week hospital stay before a (minimum) 10- to 12-week recovery at home. Karin’s thankful for her super supportive husband, the love from her two boys (ages 16 & 14) and all of her friends & family, near and far. She would not have been able to get this far without their support!! This page was made to help her and the family out with the things insurance doesn't cover for her care, which is an amazingly long list, unfortunately.
All donations will go directly to the plethora of costs that add up as Karin continues her battle with colon cancer. Even if you can’t help with a donation, any and all positive thoughts & prayers are greatly appreciated, and we’re grateful for your contributions to her mental and physical resilience (and thank you for reading this far)!
We love you, Karin! ❤️
