On Sunday, May 31, our friend and cousin, Julien Dionne, was admitted to the ICU with severe pneumonia and a dangerously high fever. As his condition worsened, he experienced significant breathing difficulties and extreme weakness. Doctors placed him in a medically induced coma and on a ventilator, leaving him unable to speak for several days while intubated.

During this critical illness, the combination of the severe infection, prolonged high fever, and an underlying kidney condition caused his kidney function to deteriorate significantly. Julien now requires multiple dialysis treatments each week while awaiting a kidney transplant.

This has been a frightening and unexpected chapter for Julien and his family. As a self-employed performer, he does not have access to paid sick leave, disability benefits, or employer-sponsored health coverage. Being unable to work while undergoing ongoing medical treatment has created a significant financial burden.
