On the 10th of August our beloved Jonno was involved in a major off-road motorbike accident. He broke his femur, pelvis, ribs, and several vertebrae, as well as puncturing his lung and severely lacerating his spleen. 24 hours after the accident, he experienced a rare fat embolism, where fat from the bone marrow in his femur travelled to his brain, causing a traumatic brain injury. The extent of this damage is still unknown and doctors have indicated this will likely only become apparent six months or so down the line. Jonno’s road to recovery is going to be a long and difficult one. During his early stages of recovery, he is going to need a lot of rehabilitation and round the clock care. His parents are wanting to be by his side, therefore they are living away from home and will not be earning an income. As Jonno’s recovery progresses over the next six to twelve months, and his care shifts from public to private, there will be many further financial challenges. Any support people are able to offer in this space will be greatly appreciated.
