Supporting Jonathan through his recovery journey

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Nathalie Amey, and I'm reaching out to you during one of the most difficult times in our lives. My husband, Jonathan, underwent a bone marrow transplant on June 6, 2024, in hopes of beating a serious health condition. At first, it seemed like everything was going well, and we were filled with hope. But sadly, Jonathan’s immune system began attacking the transplant in December, which has caused us to face unexpected setbacks. Jonathan is now fighting an ongoing battle in the hospital, having been admitted to the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) in Tasmania on the 14th of February, 2025.

This has been an incredibly challenging time for us. As we live on Bruny Island, not only are we separated by distance, but also by the sea, which makes it difficult for me to be with Jonathan daily. To ensure I can be there by his side as he begins a long and difficult course of treatment, I’ve had to stay in a hotel near the hospital. Jonathan needs constant support, and I want to be there for him as he faces this tough journey.

Unfortunately, both of us have had to stop working during this period, which has left us without any source of income. This is where we need your help. Our friends and family have encouraged us to create this GoFundMe to assist us during this challenging time. The funds raised will go directly towards covering essential expenses such as the cost of my accommodation near the hospital, travel back and forth from Bruny Island, as well as any medical-related costs that are not covered by medicare.

Now, Jonathan is being transferred to the Royal Melbourne Hospital for further treatment, and the duration of his stay is uncertain, which means we are facing significant, non-budgetable costs. This transfer will incur additional expenses, and we are uncertain about the length of his stay or the ongoing medical requirements.

Your generosity would mean the world to us and would provide the support we need to get through this difficult time. We’re incredibly grateful for any contribution, no matter the size, as it will make a huge difference in helping us stay by Jonathan’s side as he battles through this. Thank you so much for your kindness and support.

With love and gratitude,
Nathalie Amey
