Dear friends and loved ones of Joel,

Hello all. Ashby here. I am reaching out on behalf of Leo, Joel's partner, and all the folks who love and care for Joel.

Joel suffered multiple strokes in early March of 2023. He has since been in the ICU at Cone Hospital in Greensboro, NC, moved to a stepdown unit, and as of today (March 25th, 2023), has been transferred to the rehabilitation wing. These are the steps in the right direction, however, he still has a long road ahead. He can carry on a conversation, with a lot of repetition, and forgotten words, and after a while what we call "word salad" occurs. Still, he adores having his friends by his side.

Leo has been a rock for Joel during this complicated time. Any donation that you can give through Go Fund Me is greatly appreciated. If you would prefer to donate your time by visiting Joel at Cone a happy face is always welcome. Or if cooking and baking are your thing, meals and treats are always needed for both Leo and Joel.

A donation fund has also been set up through mealtrain.com. If you have given through that platform we thank you deeply and know that it has been an enormous help in getting us to this point.

With your donations, Joel and Leo can have support in paying household bills, rent, and hospital expenses. Through your donated time Leo can make it home to care for their four dogs, have some time to himself, all while knowing that Joel is in good, loving hands.

Visitation hours at Cone Hospital are from 7:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. every day. Leo works on the weekends so this is always a good time to visit.

Joel's sense of humor is still strong! His craving for sweet tea has not diminished! His sweetheart is still extra large. Support from his loved ones in any way that you can manage is what he needs now.
