My dad, Jodi, was just diagnosed with stage 4 hepatocellular carcinoma (advanced liver cancer), and our family is still trying to process the news. Doctors have told us his time is limited — possibly a year at best — and even that isn’t guaranteed. Right now, our focus is making sure the time he has left is as comfortable, supported, and meaningful as possible.
Sadly, our family is not new to this kind of fight. I lost my mom to cancer in 2016, and walking this road again with my dad is incredibly heavy. We know how hard the journey can be — emotionally, physically, and financially — and we want to be prepared to support him every step of the way.
If you know my dad, you know he’s someone who always puts family first. He loves his kids, step-kids, and grandkids with his whole heart, and he cares deeply for his girlfriend, Brandi. He’s the kind of man who shows up for people, helps when he can, and never hesitates to put others ahead of himself.
He’s always loved the outdoors — especially fishing and hunting — and some of my best memories with him are outside, talking about life, family, and everything in between. He’s a genuinely caring person, and seeing him go through this is incredibly hard.
This diagnosis brings more than just emotional pain — it also brings real financial strain. As his health changes, so does his ability to handle normal living expenses, care needs, and end-of-life planning. I’m starting this fundraiser so we can focus on being there for him instead of worrying about how to cover everything.
The funds will help with:
• Living expenses as his illness progresses
• Care and support needs along the way
• Travel and related costs for appointments and help
• Comfort and quality-of-life support
• Funeral and burial expenses when the time comes
If you’re able to donate, thank you from the bottom of my heart. If you’re not, sharing this page would mean just as much. Every share helps this reach someone who can help.
Thank you for reading and for keeping my dad and our family in your thoughts and prayers.
