Joann has been a friend of mine for almost 30 years and today she is facing the hardest fight of her life. She has been diagnosed with Stage 4 invasive ductal carcinoma with metastasis to the bones. Despite her incredible strength and resilience, multiple rounds of chemotherapy have not been successful. The cancer has now spread to her pelvis and sternum. She is currently undergoing her 4th round of treatment, including a trial medication but so far none have worked. Due to the spread to her bones, her risk of fractures is extremely high. She is also receiving palliative care to manage severe pain.

Beyond the physical and emotional toll, the financial burden has been overwhelming. Joann is paying out of pocket for treatments and has not yet been able to secure food assistance. Medical bills, treatments, and basic living expenses, including groceries, continue to add up despite the help she has graciously received from a few organizations.
