Supporting JJ & Mary through JJ's cancer treatment

In August 2022, JJ went to the emergency room with suspected appendicitis, and hours later received the shocking diagnosis of appendiceal cancer. That October he underwent a grueling 10-hour surgery to remove the abdominal tumors and receive HIPEC, a multi day chemo regimen. After several difficult months of recovery, he was considered cancer-free, only to experience a recurrence in spring 2023. Since then, JJ has been having chemo infusions every few weeks, with the hope of shrinking the tumors enough to be ready for a second surgery in spring 2024.

Through it all, our beloved JJ has navigated this with his trademark humor, strength and kindness. He is deeply adored by Mary and their two boys, and the entire Lewis family. To know JJ is to love him so we wanted to give everyone a chance to support him through this time.

As anyone who has been through something similar knows, a massive medical event like this can be a huge financial burden. JJ is receiving excellent medical care but it is incredibly expensive. Those of us close to JJ & Mary would like to raise some funds to help them with these expenses as well as mental health support for them and their boys, and provide some margins to meet practical needs such as meals, household help, etc.
