Supporting Jesi's Fight
Donation protected
My name is Andrea Hessler and I'm running this campaign to show love and support to my coworker, Cheryl, and her daughter Jesi. Here is an update from Jesi's sister:
From the day Jesi was born, she has been battling an extremely rare type of muscular dystrophy called Centronuclear Myopathy. This affects nearly every part of her body: her arteries, her ears, her eyes, her ankles, her ability to walk, etc. Despite all of this, she remains the strongest, most loving, optimistic, giving person in everyone’s life. Her faith in God’s will has given her unmatched strength. Every day is hard for her, but she never questions why she was created, or why her life is filled with so many challenges.
On January 22nd, Jesi faced yet another challenge that has proved to be a tremendous set back; she fell. While Jesi falls very often due to losing her balance and her legs giving out, this time was very different. Before Jesi even hit the ground, she heard a snap as her tibia and fibula shattered, each in several pieces. After our family called 911, Jesi was transported to one emergency room and then to another to see an orthopedic trauma surgeon. Instead of having a previously planned surgery to start the process of correcting her partial deafness, Jesi had emergency surgery to repair her compound fracture. She is currently spending time in the hospital and will then have to recover for 6-8 weeks at home. Her leg is non-weight bearing, meaning she will not be able to walk for at least that long. As a family, we have discussed the need to hire a caregiver to be with Jesi from now on, especially while my mother is at work and Jesi is recovering. This new need and Jesi’s medical bills are an unexpected financial burden that will be hard for our family to overcome.
However, Jesi will not let this setback deter her from carrying on with her life. Even while lying in the hospital bed between the bouts of intense pain, she smiles and laughs. That is just who she is: an amazing person who loves Jesus, puppies, and the people in her life, even those she has just met. Our family asks kindly for you to give any money you can to help her get past this next season of her life. Anything you can contribute is greatly appreciated by Jesi and our family.
