Supporting Jen's Journey
Donation protected
Hello Everyone! I am a close friend of Jen Robbins and am hoping to help raise some funds to support Jen and her family through a very challenging time. Establishing this fund did take a bit of convincing as this family would rather Give than Get. Funds will be used for travel costs, hospital expenditures, wage loss, paying bills, etc. Jen has graciously allowed me to share her story.
Jen’s Journey
Jen was diagnosed in 2017 with Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma, which is typically a rare slow growing cancer with no treatment plans available. After seeing doctors in Saskatoon, her treatment consisted of a trip to Edmonton where she had a complex 15-hour surgery that included numerous doctors and specialties. She later had 2 additional surgeries in Edmonton.
Fast forward to June of 2024, her specialist in Saskatoon had requested a routine follow-up chest x-ray where they found 2 spots in her lung. The original cancer had metastasized. She underwent laparoscopic surgery to remove them in September 2024 at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon.
This past month, Jen noticed tenderness at the incision sites and was experiencing constant pain in her arms, along with a cough. This prompted an urgent CT scan and X-ray which showed that her lung had collapsed and filled with fluid (pleural effusion) and that the cancer had spread to multiple new areas in her body. Her lung was drained and will continue to be drained to reduce impact on her breathing capacity. She has just begun her journey with chemo in hopes of slowing the growth of cancer.
Family
Through all of this, Jen has continued to work and raise her beautiful family of three. She is so proud of each one of her kids and continues to teach them the importance of strength, positive attitude, and resiliency through difficult times. She has been married to the love of her life Brandon for 21 years, who has stuck by her side with his calm demeanor, unconditional love, and support. Brandon works two very busy full-time jobs year-round, but he still makes sure he is with her every step of the way – as Jen says he is the hardest working man she knows!
Gratitude from the Family
Jen and Brandon want to thank everyone for their generous support from many friends, family, & co-workers. Your support has and will allow them to stay positive and reduce stress along her cancer journey. Whether it’s a donation of a meal, a visit, a text or financial, please know your kindness is genuinely appreciated.
