Help Jay Focus on Healing During Cancer & MS Battle
Kia Ora,
my name is Kiri, and I’m raising funds for my lifetime partner and best friend, Jay. Jay has lived with Multiple Sclerosis since he was 18 years old. Now, he’s facing a devastating a Stage 3 bowel cancer diagnosis that has turned our world upside down.
This fundraiser exists to surround Jay with the love and support he so freely gives to others, and to help ease the financial burden while he focuses on his health, time with loved ones, recovery and healing.
Since Jay came into my life, he has loved me and my two children with his whole heart. Together, the four of us have built a beautiful life filled with warmth, safety, and laughter. In February 2023, we moved from New Zealand to Australia to continue building our future together, never imagining we’d be facing something like this.
Jay is the kind of person everyone turns to. He listens without judgment, gives thoughtful advice, helps however he can, and shows up for people again and again — even when it costs him his time or energy. His kindness is quiet, genuine, and unwavering. He gives endlessly, without ever expecting anything in return.
Yet now, when Jay needs support more than ever, he’s facing this battle with limited options and mounting stress.
At this stage Chemotherapy and Radiation are no longer viable. Surgery is his only remaining path forward. Jay has and will continue undergoing extensive pre-surgery testing and receiving steroid treatments to reduce inflammation around the tumours while preparing his body for what lies ahead.
Jay is currently unable to work and is exploring what financial assistance may be available, but the reality is that the medical, transport, medication, and recovery costs are already overwhelming.
All funds raised will go directly to Jay to help cover:
• Medical and treatment-related expenses
• Medications and ongoing care • Transport to and from appointments
• Recovery and post-surgery needs
• Unexpected costs that may arise during treatment
No donations will go toward our household or family expenses — those remain my responsibility. However, because of this, I’m struggling to support Jay with the additional costs he is facing alone.
If I could give this man the entire world, I would — without hesitation. He deserves peace, dignity, and support during the hardest fight of his life.
