The Hahn family is finally back home together after an incredibly challenging week, and the overwhelming emotion they feel is gratitude.

Jackson continues to show remarkable strength and resilience. While his recovery will take time — particularly with nerve healing in his arm — his spirit remains strong, his sense of humor intact, and his determination inspiring. He has already earned himself the nickname “Wheels” after mastering his wheelchair and is setting new goals every day.

This experience has been life-changing for the entire family, both physically and emotionally, but the outpouring of love and support from friends, family, caregivers, and this incredible community has made all the difference. From hospital visits and prayers to meals, home modifications, and countless acts of kindness, the Hahns have been lifted up in ways they will never forget.

Because of the ongoing nature of Jackson’s recovery, we have increased the fundraising goal to help cover medical expenses from his hospital stay, upcoming appointments, therapy, and any other necessary and unforeseen costs. These added costs will continue for some time, and your support allows the family to focus on healing rather than financial stress.

The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to everyone who has donated, shared, prayed, and supported them. Your generosity is making a real difference, and they are endlessly grateful.

This fundraiser has been created for the Hahn family to help cover current and future expenses for Jackson as they navigate this incredibly difficult time.

The outpouring of love and support has already meant so much to their family, and any contribution no matter the size will go directly toward easing the financial burden they are facing so they can focus on what matters most: Jackson’s care and healing.

Ashley’s update:

Our boys were enjoying the nice weather + snow yesterday afternoon when Jackson was mauled by 2 neighbor dogs. He sustained substantial injuries to his face, arms, + ankle. Several bites/punctures elsewhere. Luckily no injuries to his midsection, airway, or any organs. One minor fracture.

Surgery went well last night. We’ve been impressed with Sanford’s trauma team, crew of multiple surgeons (trauma, plastic surgery, hand, etc.), + our all star team of nurses. They’ve made him / us as comfortable as possible under the circumstances. It’s heartwarming to see several of the care providers making a personal connection to Jackson — the phlebotomist, Grant, who shares the same birthday + our favorite nurse, Maura, who has a younger brother named Jack.

He’s got his same old humor + personality. He’s our brave, strong kiddo who hasn’t complained once. We will find out more this morning on next steps.

Special thanks to Casselton Ambulance + first responders, Cass County Sheriff, Rodney/Peggy/Pippa for being the boys’ super heroes, Nana Darcy + Jeff for all the hugs/comms/reinforcement, + our entire amazing support system. We appreciate everyone coming together so immediately to help us manage the rest of our lives so we can focus on the kid who made us parents.

Maverick was unscathed + has been in good spirits, but naturally concerned about + missing his big brother. He’s staying with family.
