Heather had a stroke on the morning of Thursday, December 2nd. She was alone and managed to call 911 when her symptoms started, knowing that she needed immediate medical help. In the ER, they did an MRI of her brain and found that she had an ischemic stroke on her right frontal lobe. They admitted her to the hospital in the stroke unit for 3 days for observation and to run tests to determine the cause of her stroke. The doctors found a hole in her heart and Heather will need to have surgery to fix it. She is on medication for now to help manage her condition. Heather has health insurance coverage for 2022 but unfortunately, she was uninsured in December when she had the stroke. Money raised will be used to help ease the stress of the growing medical bills from her hospitalization and any time off of work that her husband needs to take. Even before the stroke, Heather was unable to work due to her disability. She has a progressively debilitating neuromuscular disease that affects her peripheral nervous system. Her husband Matt is the sole income provider for the family.
Her family needs support as Heather finds answers and recovers to full health. They have a long road ahead of them and they need all the support we can offer. Heather, her husband Matt, and daughter Sophie live in a house built by Flatirons Habitat for Humanity in Boulder. Up until 2020, Heather's mom also lived with them. Unfortunately, they lost her suddenly to cancer in June of 2020. Heather's mom contributed to housing and food expenses, so it's also been a difficult transition for them to not have her financial support. Now with the growing medical bills and upcoming heart surgery, they need our help. Please consider blessing them so they can focus solely on recovering Heather's health and moving forward.
