Supporting health care workers & small businesses
Donation protected
YOU can help provide a meal for frontline health care workers & also support small local restaurants who are trying to stay open in the Kitchener/Waterloo/Cambridge, Ontario area.
Hi, my names is James Deakin, and I am a local resident of Waterloo, Ontario.
It is clear that we are all being impacted significantly by the current COVID-19 pandemic. After talking with close friends who are on the frontlines providing health care (hearing their terrible stories), and also seeing stories on the news showing how COVID-19 is impacting frontline health care workers, I began to wonder what I could do to support them to demonstrate our thanks, as a community, for the work they are doing.
At the same time small, local restaurants and meal providers are also struggling. Early estimates are already indicating that 1 in 10 will not survive the current closures, and this number increases the longer this goes on.
So…here’s the twofold goal:
1) Support frontline health care workers with meals delivered to them while they are working at these local hospitals: Grand River Hospital, Cambridge Memorial Hospital and St. Mary's Hospital.
2) Support small, local restaurants in the Kitchener/Waterloo/Cambridge, Ontario area, by giving them some business to help them survive the pandemic.
I am working directly with these three hospitals and they are excited about this project. All of the funds raised will be used to purchase the meals from local restaurants. But I need your help! The sooner we raise the money, the sooner we can engage the restaurants and get meals to our frontline health care workers.
Each community will benefit as local residents rally to support our local health care workers AND local small business owners.
Every donation counts and I thank you for donating whatever you are able to give. Together we can make a difference in our local communities!
