Young Drummer Needs Support for NYC Education

We are reaching out to you with a special appeal for support for an exceptionally gifted young musician hailing from Armenia, Mr. Harutyun Harutyunyan. He has secured admission to the recently inaugurated Tribeca Jazz Institute in New York for an intensive study program in jazz music and needs our financial backing.

Mr. Harutyunyan's unwavering dedication and remarkable talent have presented him with a unique opportunity to undergo tutelage under the esteemed jazz saxophonist and Musical Director of the Institute, Mr. Grant Stewart.

Born on the 25th of July 2005, in Yerevan, Armenia, Mr. Harutyunyan has been immersed in the world of music from a tender age. His musical journey commenced at the Musical School after A. Spendiaryan, specializing in classical drums from 2014 to 2021.

In addition to his formal studies, Mr. Harutyunyan has availed himself of online classes with the legendary jazz drummer, Mr. Joseph Farnsworth, renowned for his collaborations with iconic musicians such as McCoy Tyner, Cedar Walton, and Wynton Marsalis. Under Mr. Farnsworth's guidance, Mr. Harutyunyan has refined his skills and deepened his comprehension of jazz.

Furthermore, Mr. Harutyunyan has had the privilege of performing alongside esteemed artists like Mr. Vahagn Hayrapetyan, Mr. Karen Grigoryan, Mr. Rafael Petrosyan, and Ms. Sona Gyulkhasyan. This commitment and talent have paved the way for him to pursue jazz music education in New York at the newly established Tribeca Jazz Institute, where he will receive guidance from the globally renowned Mr. Grant Stewart.

This opportunity is not merely a milestone in Mr. Harutyunyan's career; it is the realization of a long-held dream. Having been accepted into the Tribeca Jazz Institute in December 2023, Mr. Harutyunyan is the sole Armenian among the drummers selected worldwide. He is poised to undertake a 12-week course during the upcoming spring semester, an experience that holds the promise of significantly advancing his journey as a jazz artist.

Regrettably, the costs associated with attending the Tribeca Jazz Institute, including tuition, accommodation, and living expenses in New York, are beyond the means of this young musician. Therefore, we are initiating a GoFundMe campaign to pool support for Mr. Harutyunyan's educational pursuit in the amount of $15000.
