Honoring Harlan Brookshire Angel Jr. & Helping with Final Expenses

On January 24, 2025, we lost a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Harlan Brookshire Angel Jr., at the age of 68. Harlan was a man of immense talent, intelligence, and charm, known for his self-assured nature and his unique way of thinking. He had a natural gift for problem-solving, whether it was fixing a car, building a computer, or even constructing an entire house.

Late Wednesday evening, I received the news that my father needed to be taken to the hospital. By Thursday, after many difficult conversations with doctors, I booked a plane ticket home for early the next day. My dad and I spoke on the phone several times that day, and I am grateful for those conversations. When I arrived at the hospital on Friday, we were able to speak again, even if only briefly. In just two days, everything changed. With the support of friends and family, I had to make many difficult decisions—decisions I hope no one ever has to face. Later that evening, he passed peacefully.

Throughout his life, Harlan worked as a water well driller, a business owner assembling waterbeds, and a computer programmer. But above all, he was a true handyman with an incredible set of skills—his expertise spanning electrical work, plumbing, and carpentry. There was little he couldn’t figure out, and he took great pride in making things work.

Harlan is survived by his daughter, Brandi Estee Angel Bleak, and her husband, Robert Bleak; his beloved grandson, Benjamin Bleak; his sisters, Shannan Rogers and Rhonda Mansfield; and his former spouse, LaVona Angel, who supported him through several medical situations. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ezell Rogers; his father, Harlan B. Angel Sr.; and his stepfather, Bud Rogers.

A graveside service will be held at Woodland Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio, on February 3, 2025, at 2 p.m.

How You Can Help

Harlan did not have life insurance, and while asking for help is not easy, we want to honor him with dignity and respect. We are reaching out for support to help cover his final expenses and lay him to rest. Any donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward funeral and burial costs. If you are unable to contribute financially, sharing this fundraiser would mean the world to us.

Thank you for your kindness, support, and for helping us honor his memory.

❤️ With gratitude,
Brandi & Family
