Supporting Grassroots Girls Football in Watford

Hi, my name is Lee Evans and I'm the Secretary / Head Coach for LGDA. We are a girls youth football team based in Watford, Hertfordshire. A year ago I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis and admitted into hospital for surgery to remove my colon & large bowel. I now have an 'End Ileostomy' for life. My recovery from surgery was boosted by eventually returning to training (post Covid-19 lock-down) and seeing the smiles on the faces of our young footballers. My role is completely voluntary and the rewards and enjoyment from Coaching and watching these young players is second to none.

I have decided to take the next big step in my recovery by running the Watford Autumn 10k on Sunday 21st November 2021. I have not done any distance running since my School days (I'm now 49) and this is going to be a huge challenge as I try to regain my health, strength & fitness. It may not be a marathon, but it is a huge challenge for me.

I still suffer with Ulcerative Colitis and the inflammation from the disease also causes pain in both my Achilles tendons and other areas. So although I do not always look in pain, it is constantly with me.

I am raising money for LGDA football club. The name abbreviated from "Learn, Grow, Develop, Achieve". We Coach girls football from the ages of 6+. Anyone is welcome from any ethnicity and all football abilities. From a player starting out on their journey, to players who are more skilled. We pride ourselves on Coaching in a safe and friendly environment.

The money raised will continue to fund the development of the players. It will go towards their match day pitch fees, training hire of a multi-use games facility in the winter, and replace any equipment required during the season.

More than anything, it will continue to see the club grow and keep the smiles on the faces of these young ladies, as they continue their football & social development.

No matter how small the donation, please help me in trying to raise as much money for such a wonderful little club.
