On Tuesday night I went over to my parent’s house for dinner. My Dad said he wasn’t feeling too good but went to the grocery store, cooked dinner, and played with his grand baby like he would any other time we came over. A few hours after we left my Dad called an ambulance to come get him because he was having severe pains.
After a lot of blood work and observations, the doctors had told us that he had a major heart attack.
Wednesday he had a heart cath done, which showed major blockage in his heart. He had about 10% blood flow supplying it. Doctors said his only option was a triple bypass.
My dad, George, was very scared. Before the surgery started he said his biggest fear was to not wake up and see all of us again.
7:30am on Thursday, March 14th his surgery was scheduled.
A lot of family and friends were there to support him. All day we felt a little uneasy because nobody was telling us a lot of information and it seemed to take a little longer that anticipated.
12 hours after the surgery the doctors took us into to consultation room and told us that my Dad would have to be life flighted to Allegheny in Pittsburgh.
His heart was not beating the way it needed to and it wasn’t used to so much blood flow. He had to go back on bypass.
When the helicopter arrived he was immediately put on an Ecmo Machine to keep his heart beating.
When the helicopter landed at Allegheny he was immediately taken into the operating room and they were able to stabilize him and put him on life support. At this time his heart went into shock and he lost a large amount of blood.
The following day the doctor’s went back in and found that his arteries blocked up again, they did another cath and added stents.
Today, March 17th, they went to close his chest up and found the bleeding was coming from a small laceration on his lung from one of his surgeries. Closing his chest was postponed another day.
Right now is an extremely hard time for my family. Watching the strongest man I know lay there helpless is the hardest thing I’ve experienced yet. Doctors said he will be here a minimum of 4 weeks.
We ask for prayers in this tough time that he will make it through this because so many people love and need him.
He never asks anybody for anything but right now he and my family need help. My mother has decided to stay by his side this whole journey, she cannot work. Family members travel back and forth to Pittsburgh from home to be here with him everyday and some stay at the hospital to be with him.
The medical bills are stacking up with each and every day.
We understand not everyone is able to help, but even a dollar or prayer would be appreciated.
We all just want our husband, father, papa, brother, uncle, nephew and friend back to good health again and to see us all. ❤️
