Hi, I’m Alissa (Holmbeck) Post, and I’m organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my father, Gary.
After the sudden loss of his beloved wife of 47 years Katie (aka my amazing Mama), Gary is navigating a deeply difficult time. The two shared a lifetime together, and her passing has left a quiet space that can’t be filled.
One of my Mama’s last wishes that she expressed to me was to make sure that my Dad was taken care of when she was gone.
In the time surrounding her final illness, Gary’s finances took a significant hit as he covered end‑of‑life care and cremation costs — expenses no one ever fully prepares for.
Now, as he focuses on finding stability and care, Gary will soon be moving into an assisted living community. It’s the right step for his safety and well‑being, but the transition comes with its own set of expenses — deposits, moving costs, and the adjustments that come with a major life change like this.
Gary isn’t asking strangers for help. He’s turning to the people who know him — his teammates, and classmates from Beloit and friends from a life spent working with others across the country, from Janesville, to Mitchell, South Dakota, to Yakima, and to Washougal, Washington.
This GoFundMe is a way to come together and lighten some of the financial strain as he takes this next step.
Every contribution helps relieve immediate pressures and gives Gary the flexibility to settle into a safer and supportive environment. Your help, encouragement, and connection mean more than words can say.
Thank you for being part of my Dad’s circle — for standing with him as he honors Katie’s memory and finds his footing in this next chapter of life.
