"The situation is simply dire. Women Wing is looking for ways to get people food and safety. In every crisis, women and children are most affected. People have lost faith in health systems. We also need to prioritize women to get vaccinated."

Large parts of India are facing massive crises dealing with an unprecedented surge of Covid-19 infections, making it difficult for women and families to access health care, oxygen, and vaccines. Many people are struggling with basic needs – food, ambulance and transportation, and medicine. Covid has begun to spread to small towns and villages in this second wave, and health services are often scarce or overwhelmed with a large number of cases. So many are affected, and they need immediate relief.
Mahatma Gandhi Seva Ashram (MGSA) and the Women's Wing of Ekta Parishad seek support to provide immediate relief response to migrant, landless and marginalized communities in the States of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jarkhand, and Orissa. Resources will be used to directly arrange alternative make-shift healthcare and community facilities for those severely affected by the over-flooded hospitals.
We are raising funds to provide:
- Production/distribution of 2000 face masks ($25)
- Critical ambulance services with a vehicle equipped with Oxygen cylinders (cost of each $40)
- Disburse prescribed medicines to 60 patients in isolation in 6 villages ($80)
- 300 nutrition packets for children and babies ($400)
-150 dry food packets (rice and lentils) to women and families for two weeks ($1000)
We are also undertaking an awareness campaign to encourage vaccination, follow health guidelines, and connect people with our front-line women workers for emergency support.
We are asking you to help us raise $10,000 immediately for use in May 2021. Every $ counts in this crisis and will be received with gratitude.
I, Akshat Jain, am volunteering to raise these funds, inspired by my father, Anuj Kumar Jain, who is raising funds for MGSA and Ekta Parishad in Canada. As the organizer of this fundraiser on this GoFundMe US, I will ensure that all the money collected will reach MGSA in a timely fashion.
In a world where many of us are so isolated from the problem, I hope you consider donating.
