Supporting Forest: Mutual Aid for Essential Medical Care

Our friend Forest (he/they) is a beloved member of our queer community in Rotterdam who needs our support during a particularly challenging time. Forest has shown up for other members of our community because he believes in supporting each other - now he needs us to take care of him.

Forest is facing mounting medical costs for essential gender-affirming and lifesaving care at the same time that his financial support systems have collapsed. A sudden, poorly communicated change in his enrolment status has cut off access to government financial support, and his family has also recently withdrawn financial help just when he needs it most.

Immediate urgent need (within 1 – 4 weeks):

• Quarterly gender therapy including blood work: €1,050

• Mental health support: €400

• Basic living expenses including rent

Upcoming critical needs (6-12 months):

• Top surgery: €1,500-7,500

Not just gender-affirming care, but lifesaving care without which poses danger to Forest’s safety and wellbeing

• Surgery consultations: €2,000+
