Help Me Support Flutterkc.org – Bringing Brightness to Kidney Cancer Patients (Charity Registration Number 1208259)

This year I’m taking on a major challenge to raise money for Flutter — a small but impactful national charity founded by my friend Mary.

Although I’m not unwell myself, I’m doing this to support an incredible local charity making a real difference to people diagnosed with kidney cancer across the UK.

Flutter provides free Butterfly Bags filled with thoughtfully chosen essentials — toiletries, soft socks, eye masks, notebooks, lip balm and calming herbal teas — to bring comfort during hospital stays and treatment. They also supply handmade Comfort Cushions that help patients recover from major kidney surgery, supporting breathing exercises, mobility and pain management.

So far, Flutter has delivered 2,874 bags and cushions to patients nationwide, completely free of charge. But their impact goes far deeper:

In short, Flutter reduces anxiety, supports recovery, improves the treatment experience and helps deliver more compassionate care throughout the entire kidney cancer journey.

The Challenge I’m Taking On

To support this incredible work, I’ll be stepping up as team leader on a challenging 10‑day expedition across the Canadian Rockies. This is far more than just a trek — it’s an opportunity to mentor, support and guide people who’ve faced tough life challenges and are using this expedition as a way to rebuild confidence, self‑belief and identity.

This demanding journey includes:

* multiple high‑altitude mountain trails,

* steep ascents,

* long daily mileage, and

* major routes such as Sentinel Pass, Fairview Summit, Wilcox Pass, Balu Pass, Eva Lake and Cory Pass across Banff, Yoho, Jasper and Glacier National Parks.

It’s physically intense and mentally testing — a challenge that mirrors the resilience shown by the patients Flutter supports every day.

My role within the Venari Partners charitable initiative: my responsibility goes beyond making the journey myself. I’ll be:

* supporting people who have faced difficult life experiences,

* helping them rediscover their confidence,

* mentoring them through moments of struggle, and

* guiding them to find a renewed sense of purpose through challenge, teamwork and achievement.

This expedition is about helping others find themselves again after hardship, and I’m proud to help people do exactly that.

And importantly…

All money raised goes directly to Flutter. This is not a holiday — it is a demanding charity challenge where I’ll be supporting others, pushing myself, and raising funds every step of the way.
