❤️ Tai Chi for Nepal ❤️

Hi, I’m Christine Bradley from West Yorkshire.

It’s been a while since I’ve run a fundraiser, although over the years I’ve organised many, supporting a range of UK charities.

Away from work and full-time study, I recently started teaching Tai Chi for Health at Ilkley Pool & Lido and Aireville Leisure in Skipton. Tai Chi for Health is wonderful because it really can be enjoyed by anyone — and practising outdoors brings even more benefits.

But enough about me… let me tell you how this links to my fundraiser.

❤️ Tai Chi for Nepal ❤️

Four years ago, my friend Linda and I trekked to Everest Base Camp. We were warmly welcomed and supported throughout our adventure by some wonderful local people from the Evertrek team. We also met a representative from Community Action Nepal (CAN), an organisation established by the legendary mountaineer Doug Scott, which Linda had supported through fundraising over many years.

Seeing the devastating footage from the recent floods in Nepal has hit hard. Even more heartbreaking was hearing that three of the Evertrek Nepali team members who supported us during our trek — Bal Kumar Tamang Sherpa, Angshering Sherpa and Lopsang Sherpa — are amongst the thousands missing following this disaster.

Both Evertrek and Community Action Nepal are keen to support the local communities and families affected by this devastating situation.

Wanting to do something to help, I’ve decided to hold a FREE Tai Chi for Health fundraising session, and I would absolutely love your support.

The Fundraising Session

Sunday 6th September 2026

10.00am

Ilkley Pool & Lido

The session is open to everyone — you don't need any previous Tai Chi experience and there’s no need to book. Just turn up and join in.

The session will last approximately one hour.

Please wear comfortable clothing and flat shoes/trainers. The session will be outdoors, so please come prepared for whatever the British weather decides to throw at us!

Afterwards, why not stay for a cuppa from the café and a chat? ☕❤️

Where your donation will go

My initial target is £500, which I hope to split equally between two causes supporting people affected by the disaster in Nepal.

❤️ Evertrek – supporting the families of Bal Kumar Tamang Sherpa, Angshering Sherpa and Lopsang Sherpa.

❤️ Community Action Nepal – supporting CAN’s ongoing work with communities in Nepal.

Every penny raised through this fundraiser will be divided between these two causes.

The Nepalese people are some of the kindest and most welcoming people I have ever met. I heard today about one family who had lost 11 members in the disaster, and it is heartbreaking to think about the thousands of people who have lost loved ones, homes and everything they own.

Those who have survived may consider themselves the lucky ones — but many are now facing an uncertain future without their homes, possessions or livelihoods.
