Last week, our family experienced a heartbreaking loss with the passing of Monica — Erin’s mom, my grandmother.
Over the past several years, Erin balanced caring for Monica while also continuing to run the café for her community. She spent countless hours by her mom’s side while still showing up every day for friends, neighbors, and customers — creating a welcoming space where people could gather, connect, and feel cared for. Anyone who knows Erin understands this wasn’t done out of obligation — it came from love. That same love and dedication is what she brings to everything she does.
Erin learned her Southern hospitality from her mom. Monica taught her the importance of taking care of others, opening your home and heart, sharing food, and showing up when people need you most. Erin has carried that forward her entire life — whether it’s helping a neighbor, supporting local families, or building community through her café. She’s always been the person people can count on.
Now, Erin is facing a difficult transition. Her passing has had a profound impact on Erin emotionally as well as financially. Along with grieving her mother, she’s navigating life after being Monica’s caregiver. This includes lost wages, funeral and memorial expenses, and everyday living costs as she finds her footing again.
We’re asking for support to help ease this burden during an incredibly emotional time. Any contribution will go toward:
• Funeral and memorial expenses
• Lost income while Erin takes time to grieve and recover
• Living expenses as she transitions from caregiving back into regular work
Every donation, share, or kind message means more than we can express. Erin has spent so much of her life caring for others — now we’re hoping to surround her with that same kindness and support.
Thank you for being part of her community and for helping us honor Monica’s memory by caring for Erin the way she has always cared for everyone else.
With gratitude,
Jazz & Family
