Hi everyone,
My mom, Emily, is currently battling multiple myeloma, a cancer of the bone marrow that can cause painful bone damage and other serious complications. After months of appointments and uncertainty in the Lubbock area, what was initially believed to be a single tumor was later discovered—through continued testing and evaluation—to be multiple myeloma, including a complex clival tumor and several painful bone lesions affecting her vision and daily life.
Over the past several months, she has been through numerous appointments and evaluations with various doctors in the Lubbock area after experiencing increasing pain and vision problems. As we searched for answers, it became clear that her condition was more complex and required specialized care.
Early on, a clival tumor at the base of her skull made her case especially challenging. Because local providers were unsure how best to manage or treat this rare tumor, our family made the decision to self-refer to MD Anderson Cancer Center. Since then, we have made multiple trips to Houston to meet with several specialists, undergo additional testing, and develop an appropriate treatment plan.
She is now under the care of a multidisciplinary oncology team, and they have recommended radiation treatment, which will require her to stay in Houston for a couple of weeks.
The encouraging news is that once radiation is completed, she will be able to continue her chemotherapy treatments closer to home in Lubbock, which will significantly reduce the need for ongoing long-distance travel. However, completing this radiation phase in Houston is a critical part of her treatment plan.
While we are incredibly grateful for the care she is receiving, the travel, lodging, meals, gas, and time away from work during these extended stays are creating a significant financial strain. These are necessary expenses that insurance does not cover, but they are essential so she can receive the treatment she needs.
We are asking for help to ease this burden so we can focus on what matters most—her care, comfort, and healing.
Any amount, whether through a donation, sharing this fundraiser, or keeping her in your thoughts and prayers, truly means more than we can express. Thank you for supporting my mom during this difficult season.
With gratitude,
Chloe & Family
