Last Thursday, my life changed in a moment.

While legally crossing the street in Salt Lake City, I was struck by a car and suffered a severe fracture to my shoulder. The injury is significant and requires surgery this week, followed by a long and demanding recovery and physical therapy. Right now my arm and shoulder are immobilized, and I’m facing weeks of limited mobility and months of rebuilding strength and function.

What makes this moment especially difficult is the timing. I’m in the middle of an active job search following a recent layoff, and this injury has suddenly paused my ability to interview, start new work, and maintain financial stability at exactly the moment I needed momentum most. Surgery, pain management, rehabilitation, and daily limitations have turned everything into a day-by-day situation for me and my family.

In the coming weeks, I will be navigating:

• Surgery and post-operative recovery

• Physical therapy and rehabilitation

• Limited mobility and help with everyday tasks

• Time away from normal work and job-search activities

• Medical expenses and the everyday costs that don’t stop when life does

We’re incredibly grateful for the kindness and support we’ve already received, and we’re thankful that everyone involved has been cooperative and compassionate so far. Right now our focus is healing, stability, and getting through this stretch safely and thoughtfully.

I’m sharing this publicly because many people have asked how they can help, and because we’re in a very real and urgent period where support will make a meaningful difference. I’m raising funds to help cover surgery and recovery-related costs, physical therapy, and short-term living expenses while I heal and work to get back on my feet.
