Our beloved friend and colleague, Dr. Salerno, a devoted pediatric intensivist, recently suffered a stroke and will need to take time away from work to rest and focus on recovery. Known by so many for his compassion, dedication, and unwavering care for his patients, he now finds himself in need of care and support. In a few short years, he was looking forward to retirement and spending more time with his wife Katherine and sons Nicholas, Luke, and Neilan.

Dr. Salerno is deeply loved by the PICU and pediatric nurses who have been blessed enough to work alongside him, and we cannot imagine not stepping up to help. One of his many gifts is making each one of us feel special. This might mean bringing us our favorite treat at work, attending one of our child's sporting events or simply coming out to the nursing station to see how our day is going. Now, it is our turn to turn around and show him that same love and support.
