Supporting Don Norman and Family during his medical journey.
Donation protected
Hey everyone! My name is Jacqueline Vestal. I have known the Norman family for many years and have always thought of them as my own family.
As most of you know, especially in the Vanceboro community, Don Norman has been in the hospital since January. It started out as Don was having a revision of gastrojejunoostomy surgery. Which is a a revision of his whipple surgery when he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Following the surgery Don has been hospitalized from complications such as infections, another emergency exploratory surgery, liver abscesses, being septic in ICU, fluid on lungs requiring chest tube causing him to struggle to breathe at times, needing blood transfusions, poor nutrition requiring parenteral nutrtion, increased weakness and everything else. After all this Don is continuing to fight but he is tired and has been through so much. During all this his wife Kim has been in the hospital day in and day out along with the rest of his family by his side being his advocate.
I wanted to create this Gofund me page to help support Don, Kim, and his children with medical expenses, gas from having to constantly make trips to the hospital, and food as it can be expensive eating in a hospital everyday. Don may be in the hospital for the unforseable future. We continue to lift Don up in prayers that God will heal his body, the nurses and physcians helping to take care of him, and for the family to continue to have faith as this can take a huge toll on all involved. Don continues to be a miracle and with prayer we pray a healing comes for Don quickly. If you can, please help donate. I know the family would be so greatly appreciative ♥️
Thank you,
Jacqueline Vestal
2/18 update:
Don actually slept better last night with all that fluid being off his left lung yesterday (thoracentesis got off 1200cc) Praying that the lung Dr will keep chest tube in and clamped for 24more hours before removing to make sure fluid doesn't accumulate again.
Trying to encourage him to use incentive spirometer he says it hurts but I told him that his lung is going to fill back up or get infected without doing it.
He hasn't had a bowel movement in 4 days so they need to figure that out and his white blood count is more elevated today They said they may order a CT scan (pray they do)
That being said Don is a bit sleepy but actually said he felt a little better today. He's refusing breakfast but says he will eat lunch but he wants KFC (random lol)
All in all I give God all the praise that he was with us talking to Dr yesterday and that he rested better last night....
