My brother lost his husband, Reverend Nick Sollom unexpectedly on December 13, 2025 after a long battle with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Our community has been grieving this tragic loss the past couple of months, but none more than my brother. Nick and Dom were soulmates who enjoyed nature, intellectual conversations, and spending time in their community- whether that be a local coffee shop or engaging at various activities with their church. No one but Dom knew the intense pain Nick was holding onto, nor did he ever want anyone to know. He spent his days caring and holding others in their own hurts through his service at Yale New Haven Hospital during COVID-19 to caring for underserved populations and veterans across New York City, all while leading them to Christ.
The sudden loss of Nick has left my brother with immense grief and unexpected bills. Through the nature of Nick's passing of suicide, Dom is still waiting for the life insurance and without an income. He is unable to work due to his own PTSD of finding Nick at the scene. Before Nick's call to the Lutheran Church in Rhode Island, he had spent the year on unemployment due to health reasons, which has left Dom with no savings. Our families and Nick's church community from East Greenwich, Rhode Island have come together to aid in the costs of the funeral and other various costs, but the challenges are more than we can handle alone.
I am reaching out to our communities to ask for assistance during this trying time for Dom, our family, and the hundreds of people who have been positively impacted by Nick. I know the impact of every dollar will help Dom get back on his feet and continue on in his own seminary journey, and biography of Nick's life's work, to honor Nick.
Thank you in advance for your time, thoughts, and donations.
