My name is Watfa. I am a Lebanese PhD student based in the Netherlands, and for the past several years my research has focused on community-led initiatives in Lebanon that support refugees, migrants and displaced communities. I have had the privilege of working alongside many of these grassroots groups and witnessing the vital role they play during times of crisis. Today, many of these same initiatives are mobilizing once again to support families displaced across the country.

In recent days, thousands of people across Lebanon have been forced to leave their homes with very little notice. Many families are now sheltering in overcrowded schools, temporary collective shelters, or sleeping in cars and public spaces. With nights still cold and resources stretched thin, the immediate need for basic necessities is urgent.

Across the country, local communities and grassroots groups have mobilized quickly to support those who have been displaced. These initiatives are organizing food distribution, coordinating temporary shelter, and providing essential supplies such as blankets, mattresses, hygiene products, and basic kitchen items.

This fundraiser aims to support these community-led efforts that are working directly with displaced families on the ground. Funds raised will be transferred to trusted local organizers who are coordinating relief efforts and responding to urgent needs as they arise.

Community networks are often the first to respond in times of crisis, and your support can help them continue providing immediate assistance to families who need it most.
