Hi everyone, I’m Ben, Dennys’s husband.
As many of you know, our world was recently turned upside down when Dennys was diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. It’s the kind of news you never think you’ll hear, and it has set us on a very long, very difficult path.
Right now, Dennys is facing an intense battle. Her treatment plan over the next several months looks like this:
- Initial Treatment: 10–12 weeks of intensive chemotherapy while staying in the hospital.
- The Next Phase: Roughly 5–6 months of “in and out” hospital stays for further chemo treatments every 10 to 14 days.
- The Long Road: There is a possibility of a bone marrow transplant, followed by two years of daily chemotherapy tablets.
Why We’re Asking for Help
While the insurance covers the primary hospital costs, the “hidden” costs of fighting cancer add up faster than anyone can prepare for.
Dennys is currently in great spirits and being incredibly brave, but I want to make sure the only thing she has to focus on is her recovery—not how we’re going to pay the bills. We are raising funds to help cover:
- Daily Living: General bills and expenses while Dennys is unable to work.
- Wellness & Comfort: High-quality wigs, specialised skincare, and products to manage the harsh side effects of chemo.
- Nutrition & Travel: Healthy, specialised food to keep her strength up and the constant transport costs to and from the hospital.
- The Future: We are taking things step-by-step, but we are also mindful of future costs like fertility preservation.
