Rebuilding After the Fire: Supporting Denise, Ron & the Summerland Bluegrass Society

On August 7, 2026, our family’s farm in Faulder was tragically lost in the devastating Bald Range wildfire. My mom, Denise Trudeau, and stepdad Ron Horner lost their home, barn, and outbuildings, along with their fifth-wheel RV and cargo trailer. The horses have also been displaced by this tragic fire.

While their home and RV were insured, many of the things lost were not. The barn and outbuildings contained years’ worth of horse tack, tools, equipment, and countless other belongings. Their cargo trailer, which was also uninsured, held more than $5,000 worth of signs, banners, supplies, and equipment used to organize and run the Summertime Bluegrass Festival, formerly known as the Summerland Bluegrass Festival, founded by my Grandfather Lawrence Trudeau in 1995, and later became a non-profit society in 2013.

The festival is something very close to their hearts. For years, Mom, Ron, and the Bluegrass Society have worked hard to bring musicians and our community together for this special event. Losing the equipment and supplies needed to make the festival happen has added another heartbreaking layer to an already overwhelming loss.

We are hoping to raise funds to help replace uninsured belongings and equipment, rebuild the supplies needed for the Bluegrass Festival, and help Mom and Ron navigate the enormous costs that come with starting over.
