Support for DeltaTrain

DeltaTrain friends and family,

As we've gone into another lockdown in Toronto this week and gyms were forced to close for the 3rd time this year, I haven't been able to stop thinking about our gym and the people that make it such a special place. Small businesses have been devastated by the impact of the pandemic, and gyms are among those that have been hardest hit. Sadly, I've heard that many gyms have had to close their doors because they simply could no longer afford to continue. I'm fearful that our beloved DeltaTrain could face the same fate and selfishly, I don't want to see that happen.

DeltaTrain and the community around it mean more to me than I can appropriately express in words. I’ve been a member since the year it opened, 8 years ago, and it has influenced my life in countless positive ways. I’ve gotten into the best physical shape of my life, built mental strength and confidence, forged friendships that I’m confident will last a lifetime, had a place to count on to lift my spirits or forget my worries when days were hard, and if that weren’t enough, it’s the place where I met the love of my life!  All of this thanks to a strong and caring owner and head coach, and a diverse, supportive, inspiring and hilarious community of coaches and members. I know most (likely all) of you share similar feelings and stories about how the gym has had a lasting positive impact on your lives.

I’ve checked in with Amy over the last few months and I know times are tough and expenses are piling up. After the last closure at the beginning of October, the gym was open for less than 2 weeks so there hasn’t been enough revenue to catch up, let alone keep up going forward. Thankfully the gym qualifies for rent relief but it does not cover 100% and there are other overhead cost obligations like Wodify, insurance and utilities.

I want to give back and support the community Amy has built so that it can survive today and thrive tomorrow when we can all throw down at the gym together again. Amy is too strong and proud to ask for help so I want to do it on her behalf. When all of this is over, we want (and need!) the gym to still be there. Let’s rally together to support Amy and the coaches to make that happen. A target of $10,000 may seem high but this will only cover about half of what is owed for October and November, along with what is coming due for December so let’s see what the power of our DeltaTrain family can do.

Please do not feel any obligation to donate as I know many members have also faced financial hardship in 2020, with lost jobs and struggling businesses. For those of us that are able, please consider making a donation and let’s do our best to keep the gym alive for Amy, the coaches and the community.

With sincere thanks on behalf of the DeltaTrain community,

Laura
