Supporting Danny Riddle: Fighting CJD and Easing the Burden

Dear Friends, Family, and Kindhearted Strangers,

I am reaching out to you with a heavy heart to share the devastating news about our beloved friend Danny. Recently diagnosed with Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD), a cruel and terminal illness with no known cure, Danny and his family are facing an unimaginable challenge.

The impact of this diagnosis has been nothing short of devastating. CJD has robbed Danny and Melissa of their future plans and has left them grappling with the harsh reality of the inevitable. As they navigate through this heartbreaking journey, we want to offer them all the support and love we can muster.

Danny and Melissa's family spans across two states, with most residing in Victoria. The cost of travel for Melissa and Danny to have their loved ones by their side during this difficult time is exorbitant.

Moving to Queensland was a huge decision for Melissa and Danny, giving up the security of the life they had built in Victoria, this awful disease has stolen the dreams and hopes of them building this new life in QLD leaving Melissa without a home she owns for their family.

Melissa wishes to remain in Queensland, where they recently started this new life, so their children here can continue their studies and apprenticeships. However, Melissa's own health issues have rendered her unable to work in recent years, adding financial strain to their already overwhelming situation. We can financially help so their futures are secure and the education and employment paths for the kids can continue.

We are united in our desire to help in any way we can, let’s make this happen!

We all know Danny as someone who has dedicated his life to helping others. Whether it's lending a listening ear, coaching kids at footy, offering a helping hand, or spreading kindness, laughter wherever he goes, Danny has touched countless lives with his generosity. Now, it's our turn to rally around him and his family in their time of need.

Our goal is to alleviate some of the financial burden that comes with battling CJD. Donations will assist with medical expenses, travel costs for family visits, and easing the financial strain on Melissa as she cares for Danny and their family. But most importantly securing a future in Queensland so the impact on the kids future through education and employment is not affected. We all know what this would mean to Danny.

Additionally, as the inevitable draws nearer, we want to honour Danny's wish to be brought back to his home state when the time comes. The expenses associated with this final journey weigh heavily on the family, and we hope to ease their burden in any way we can.
